I'd like to see Ferrari 250 GTO added, as it's price seems to be much higher than every car on the list (except 57S Atlantic of course), Lee Kun-hee's model was sold for £15.7mln, and that's a lot (in 2008 it was about $30 millions)

Jeremy,
You're welcome.
There's another most expensive car that I know of between the Bugatti Atalante at $4-4 million and the Ferrari 250GT California spyder at $10.8 million. It's another 57SC Bugatti Atalante, 57511, also part of Dr. Williamson's collection, which sold for $7.92 million at RM Auctions in the summer of 2008.
You might be interested in my article on the Erik Koux Atlantic replicas on bugatti revue. http://www.bugattirevue.com/revue39/erik.htm

The one Jay Leno owns is a Bugatti 57SC-based recreation, begun by Erik Koux and completed by Crailville.

The first owner of Bugatti Atlantic 57374 was Victor, Lord Rothschild of the British branch of the Rothschild family, NOT Philippe de Rothschild of the French branch. This error has been kicking around for years, but has been corrected in print several times. Dr. Peter Williamson bought it for $59,000, the record price at the time, at auction in 1971, and had it restored to its original appearance 32 years leter. It is also the one that, when painted red, appeared on the cover of Ken Purdy's "Kings of the Road" and belonged to Robert Oliver then.
Another error, one that has been around even longer, is that only three Atlantics were built after the Aerolithe, when in fact there were four: 57374 first; then 57453 , which was dismantled and lost - this is the one seen in photos with Mrs. William Grover Williams and her Scottish Terriers. She and her husband had frequent use of the car since he was a Bugatti driver at the time. It was also used a a factory demonstrator. The third one, 57473, was the one demolished at an unguarded crossing near Gien, France in August 1955 (not by a Bugatti railcar, as some ironists like to think). It was restored twice, incorrectly, with mostly new parts and is considered non-authentic now. The fourth and last is 57591, the one belonging to Ralph Lauren, its fifth owner.

the rolls royce star of india is for sale at 8.5 million on jameslist.com but what about the bugatti type 57 atlnatic?? there was only 3 of these made and only 2 left one is black and the other is blue. they rebuilt the blue one from parts that had from 2 of them. so that means there is only 2 left in the world and ralph lauren owns one so how much would that be worth considering alot of people think that this car is the greatest car ever built and has the best looks and everything. just wondering how much that would be worth is prolly a whole lot more than a rolls royce silver ghost.

There should also be the 1964 Porsche 904 race car that today (if in good condition) ranges from about $1.4 million all because Porsche produced about only around 104 of these special vehicles, and not many exist today. It is a car collectors must-have by today's standards...
