Written by: tom Filed Under: Luxury, Real Estate, Travel, World on January 12th, 2006Billionaire Steve Wynn spent US$2.7 billion on on Wynn Las Vegas, which opened in April, 2005 making it the most expensive casino ever built. It does not seem like this title will be held by the Wynn for very long though.
The Las Vegas Sands Corp, MGM Mirage and three other bidders are competing for the right to build Singapore’s first casino resort in the city-state that Merrill Lynch estimates will cost US$3 billion.
It has also just been announced that the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas is to be replaced by a $4-Billion hotel-casino-shopping complex tentatively called Echelon Place. In early 2007, the Stardust will be demolished as construction begins on Echelon Place, which is scheduled to open in 2010.
MGM Mirage is planning a $5-billion complex called CityCenter that would include hotels, a casino, stores and condominiums. Will it be the most expensive casino in the world when it opens its doors?
