My parents just bought a pure bengal kitten in Florida for $450. They are beautiful, but I don't think i would pay thousands of dollars for one.

I agree! seriously poor cats and dogs are killed by the thousands each day! there still adorable even though they didnt / dont have a home doesnt mean they have to suffer anyone more and… the a whoooooole lot cheaper

I agree with Shannon….just cause you got your cat from a shelter or adopted one doesn't mean that someone else shouldn't have a cat that is bred to look a certain way for its appearance. That is their personal preference. Maybe those same people might have the money to give tons of money to shelters too! You never know. Don't be so quick to judge! I have always personally had 4 favorite types of cats, those types being Persian, Himalayan, Bengal & Savanna. Right now I have a Persian and a Himalayan. One was given to me by a friend who's cat had kittens and one I rescued. I haven't ventured into the world of Bengals or Savannah cats yet because I work too much and they are much more active breeds. Very beautiful though…

I would not pay that much. However, for those who are telling others to get one from a shelter… If someone wants to spend money like that, then that is their choice. Everyone has priorities and who are we to push ours on them? More cute shelter cats for the rest of us to love I guess.

Gosh these cats are amazing, but really people, would you rather buy one cat and have hundreds put down, for the same price? I have a tabby~e is my best friend~ when I got him at a shelter, he was purring! they are one of the best cat breeds available! I also favor the Japanese bobtail and the calico. Please don’t spend so much money on one cat, when you could be saving hundreds.

i think it’s a waste to buy a cat for that much money. it is cute, true, but my cat was a stray, he’s adorable, and he is very intelligent. and i payed for the vet only. but bengals are adorable. also, tabbies are more companionable than the highly intelligent, large, beautiful bengal. and i dont think their’s such thing as a truely “hypoallergenic”, because all cats produce the hormone that makes pple allergic, and even a hairless cat still makes it. so omething with as much fur as a bengal makes much more than a rex or sphinx.

I’m actually not a breeder… That was just my opinion.. Haha… But when it comes to hairless cats.. They are not truely hypoallergenic because they still produce Fel d1 which is the main allergen.. However.. If u bathe it a lot you’ll be fine I guess.. Idk

Lauren, you must be a breeder. I was a breeder for years and this is the type of statement I would also make when selling a kitten!
I stopped breeding because of all the hundreds of cats and kittens killed every day/week/month in shelters, and a high price tag will not guarantee a nice nature.
