While some priceless gems exist, such as the world famous Hope Diamond, these are the most expensive diamonds ever sold.

The Wittelsbach-Graff Diamond – $23.4 million

The Wittelsbach-Graff diamond is a 35.56-carat blue diamond mined in India. The historic diamond was chosen by King Philip IV of Spain as part of the dowry for his daughter, the Infanta Margarita Teresa. Her suitor, Leopold I, later became Holy Roman Emperor and passed the diamond on to his heirs after she died in 1673. When the Archduchess of Austria married Bavaria’s Crown Prince in 1722, the diamond became known as “Der Blaue Wittelsbacher” (The Blue Wittelsbach) after the Crown Prince’s family. This diamond became the most expensive diamond in the world after being sold to London-based jeweler Laurence Graff in 2008. Graff immediately had the gem altered in order to enhance its color and remove some damage to its girdle, an action decried by some gemstone experts.

The Graff Pink – $46 million

Before this 24.78-carat “fancy intense pink” diamond was sold in 2010 to Mr. Graff at a Sotheby’s in London auction, it had last been sold by renowned jeweler Harry Winston. Pink diamonds are extremely valuable and only the rarest weigh more than 20 carats. It is unknown whether or not Graff plans to alter the Graff Pink. Sotheby’s made an additional $60 million on diamonds at the same auction.

The Kings Button iPhone is, surprisingly, a jewel-bedecked iPhone. This time, however, Aloisson had the iPhone 3G to play with—and, apparently, a bit of a bigger budget. One hundred and thirty-eight brilliant-cut diamonds line the sides of the phone, but the real prize is the home button—a rare 6.6 carat white diamond.

Stuart Hughes of Goldstriker International is known for giving luxury devices such as phones and video game consoles the “Supreme” treatment—covering them with gold and diamonds—and the iPhone is no exception. The iPhone 3GS Supreme features a casing made from 271 grams of solid 22k gold and a screen trimmed with fifty-three 1-carat diamonds. The home button is covered with a single rare 7.1-carat diamond. That’s not all, though—the iPhone 3GS Supreme comes in a chest carved from a single block of granite and sports Kashmir gold and an interior lining made with Nubuck top grain leather.

Stuart Hughes iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition – $8 million

If you thought his iPhone 3GS Supreme was impressive, check out the latest iPhone from Stuart Hughes–the iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition. Hughes has recreated the infamous antenna band that wraps around the sides of the latest iPhone, as well as the backplate, using rose gold. The band is adorned with 100 carats of flawless diamonds, and the Apple logo is formed with fifty-three more diamonds. Once again, the home button gets the most love–it’s made of platinum and features a rare 7.4-carat pink diamond.

The phone comes in an imperial pink 7-kilogram chest cut from a single block of granite and lined with nubuck top-grain leather. It also comes with an 8-carat flawless diamond that can be used in place of the pink one.

iDiamond iPod Shuffle – $40,000

This diamond-encrusted version of the iPod Shuffle was offered as part of an auction at the Feast of Albion. The auction also included a chauffeured Jaguar XJ and VIP tickets to see Roger Waters’ final performance of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. The iPod and accompanying headphones are made of 18k white and pink gold. There are 430 diamonds on the iPod and another 118 on the headphones. While its estimated worth is around $40,000, its exact value is up in the air since it is a unique item sold as part of a larger auction prize.

Meng Duo’s Douglas.J Presidential HD – $44,000

Over twice as expensive, however, was the Douglas.J Presidential MP3 player by London-based Meng Duo Ltd. When ordering your own Presidential, you needed to choose not only the gold used in the casing (white or yellow) but also the physical configuration of the diamond buttons set in the front of the player. This expensive digital audio player included a gigabyte of memory, a 65k color screen for video playback and support for a plethora of audio and video file formats. The price also included Class 85 membership that provided exclusive access to a small group of clubs as well as hand delivery of the blinged out MP3 player anywhere in the world.

Stuart Hughes’ iPod Touch Supreme Fire Edition – $330,000

The latest luxury gadget by Stuart Hughes, this iPod Touch—already a costly MP3 player—has been refitted with 125 grams of solid 24k gold and embellished with 124 flawless diamonds totalling 75 carats. That includes an Apple logo set with fifty-three diamonds, a border of diamonds around the face and a 2-carat diamond set in the center of the home button and surrounded by twenty-eight smaller diamonds. This luxury iPod is a limited item and only three will be made.

For the cash-strapped, Hughes also offers his standard iPod Touch Supreme for about $220,000

Modern science has almost eliminated the demand for the most expensive paint in the world. In fact, its main usage in the modern era is to restore the works of antiquity. Still, what artist wouldn’t sell his or her right arm to work with genuine Tyrian purple?

Tyrian purple is produced by the purple dye murex, a kind of sea snail, and a single garment dyed with the pigment required the milking or crushing of twelve thousand snails. As such, it was extraordinarily expensive and wearing a Tyrian purple garment was a sign of incredible wealth. Also called imperial purple, the luxurious dye was used in garments worn by the emperors and kings of classical antiquity, including Alexander the Great, the Ptolemaic kings and the emperors of Rome.

Would you like to have the most expensive manicure in the world? It’ll take more than money. Master manicurist Leighton Denny only offers his services to household names.

Denny, who opened his original nail boutique at the Urban Retreat Day Spa & Salon on the 5th floor of Harrods in London, has offered his Diamond, Sapphire and Ruby Encapsulization manicure since 2005. Far more than the standard buff and shine, the encapsulization includes nine carats of precious gem inlays.

The encapsulization proved so popular that Denny had a waiting list of 175 people in 2005, including some Arab princesses. The price for this magnificent manicure is a staggering $32,000.

Established just prior to the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Moxon Huddersfield has been producing handcrafted textiles for over 450 years. Moxon uses traditional methods to create their exclusive cloth, which may take up to fourteen weeks to produce—after three seasons of literal wool gathering!

Moxon uses the finest wools to produce its pieces, including mink, ermine and vicuña. They are best known, however, for their use of Altai cashmere gathered from goats bred in the mountainous Gorno-Altai Autonomous Region (now the Altai Republic) of the former Soviet Union.

The wool is processed on traditional wooden machines, including finishing machines exclusive to the firm. These machines were built using blueprints from the 19th century and are unique in the textile industry.
As if all that wasn’t enough to maintain exclusivity, Moxon is also particular about their clientele. The company not only keeps their clients’ identities confidential, they even keep their website private.

A pair of socks produced by this exceptional British textile house reportedly costs a staggering $400. At even half that, they would likely be the most expensive socks in the world.

If you’re a football fan, you’ve probably heard a thing or two about Troy Polamalu’s famous hair. Well, Head and Shoulders certainly have. They’re using the Samoan-descended NFL superstar’s lengthy locks to promote their brand and, in case of unforeseen hair trauma, they’ve insured it for $1 million.

The 29-year-old strong safety received his first haircut in 2000, on advice from his coach at the University of Southern California. The last haircut, however, was seven years ago, and the mass of hair spilling out of his helmet has become one of his most distinctive features. In fact, it’s been said that his whole head of hair, laid end to end, would stretch across 1,100 football fields.

The insurance policy was developed by Watkins Syndicate at Lloyd’s of London. It covers Polamalu’s hair for the entirety of the NFL season.

Tomboy turned fashionista Kelley Dooley knows it’s hard for women to find fitness wear that looks good, which is why she founded BodyRock in March 2009. Browse her shop and you’ll see collections with names like “Keep ‘em In” or “Lock ‘em Down.” You’ll also find the most expensive sports bra in the world.

Scarves, without doubt, owe their global popularity to their wide variety of uses. A scarf can keep you warm on a cold day or it can be used to wipe the sweat from your face on a hot day. They can be used to keep dust and insects out of your mouth while you’re riding a horse. They may be used to communicate the religion you practice, the university you attend or the sports team you support. Of course, they are also very fashionable.

In 1837, saddlemaker Thierry Hermès founded his company. One hundred years later, Hermès produced their first scarves. Today, Hermès scarves are among the most expensive scarves in the world.

Hermès scarves have been considered traditional heirlooms in France. Their scarves were made from raw Chinese silk spun into a tough fabric and individually screen-printed with designs that sometimes took years to compose. The company still focuses on producing quality, handcrafted goods to this day.

The cheapest of these luxury scarves commands a price of $260. A Hermès dip-dyed giant silk scarf, on the other hand, is priced at $720.

When you’re traveling, only one thing can say as much or more about you and your lifestyle than the clothes on your back, and that’s the luggage you carry. Luckily for the elite jet set, they have the option of showing off their status with the most expensive suitcase in the world.

The Henk Travelfriend doesn’t just show off your wealth, though. Its customizability allows you to show off your own brand of aesthetic. Purchasers may create their own Henk suitcase by choosing from fifteen different color and material combinations, including options such as carbon glossy and calfskin in a variety of colors with optional ostrich or crocodile motifs. In the 1920s, white linen sheets were de rigueur. That all changed when Madeleine Porthault convinced her husband, Daniel, to offer a home couture collection through his small Parisian lingerie boutique. Their business thrived and many others followed suit, but the D. Porthault name still carries weight among the wealthy and their bath towels are the most expensive towels in the world.

The practice that sets D. Porthault apart from their competitors is that they still silk-screen their prints by hand. This process allows their hand-mixed paints to set deep within the fabric, making their towels and other home coordinates vibrant for a lifetime.

D. Porthault’s most expensive towels are made with 65-gram Egyptian cotton with double-rolled, hand-sewn scalloped edges. These luxury towels are priced over $400 and may be purchased in the US at their New York boutique at 470 Park Ave.

R. Jewels Diamond Edition

Luxury designer Stuart Hughes is at it again, this time in collaboration with Manchester tailor Richard Jewels. Rather than the gold-plated and diamond-encrusted gadgets Hughes is known for designing, this duo has created the most expensive suit in the world.

The R. Jewels Diamond Edition suit has 480 single cut diamonds, 0.5 carats each, studding the Cashmere wool and silk blend that makes up the rest of the suit. It is the flagship creation of the R. Jewels line of luxury suits that Mr. Jewels hopes will “not only capture the eyes but the hearts of the consumers.” The suit is the product of 600 man hours and only three will be made. It’s priced at £599,000 or just under US $900,000.

Alexander Amosu, whose London-based design house is also known for gem-studded phones and accessories, performed a similar feat in 2009. The fabric of his single-breasted suit is made from vicuña wool, the most expensive wool in the world due to its scarcity and stringent regulations on wool-gathering, as well as qiviut, wool made from the coats of muskoxen. It’s also threaded with 18-karat gold and its single button features pave set diamonds.

This fantastic suit took a total of 80 hours to make and was sold to an anonymous buyer for a price of £70,000—over US $100,000.

The word “tuxedo” technically refers to a men’s black dinner jacket, but the term is often used to refer to the entire suit worn to black tie events. Both the term and, supposedly, the fashion originate from New York’s Tuxedo Park, where Griswald Lorillard wore a black dinner jacket to the Tuxedo Club’s annual Autumn Ball.

Italian fashion house Brioni has been making men’s suits since the end of World War II. Each year, their 900 tailors—each of whom must undergo a four year apprenticeship—create 200 different models of men’s suits. Their tuxedos are meant to emphasize a man’s broad-shouldered and narrow-waisted physique. They’re most famously associated with that suave secret agent, James Bond, who has worn Brioni suits since 1995.

Brioni tuxedos start at $3,000 and can cost upwards of $10,000 or more.

When it comes to boots, leather is the material du jour—and the more exotic the leather, the more fashionable the boot. Add in a fashionable designer like Louis Vuitton or, say, Manolo Blahnik and you have a recipe for the most expensive boots in the world.

Spanish fashion designer Manolo Blahnik bought his first boutique, located in London and formerly known as Zapata, in 1972. Since then, he has opened several other boutiques in metropolitan locales such as New York, Dubai and Hong Kong. He has been referenced in music by artists ranging from Beyoncé Knowles to Weird Al Yankovic and television shows from “Will & Grace” to “Angel.”

These boots, featuring heels typical of Blahnik’s designs, are made with alligator skin and reach up to just below the knee. They’re valued at a phenomenal $14,000 and were available at Malano Blahnik’s New York boutique on West 54th Street.

Why not spend some money to protect your precious iPhone? These luxury iPhone cases are made from carbon fiber, Tuscan leather, mahogany, ostrich skin, alligator skin and even gold embellished with diamonds and have prices ranging from $180 to over $100,000.

The enormous, heart-shaped artificial crystal affixed to the back is this case’s claim to cost. It also features a stunning array of Swarovski crystals topped with a jeweled crown that will let everyone around you know who’s in charge. This case isn’t for anyone who values a slim case, however, as the decorations make the encased phone at least half again as deep as the phone itself.

This case, created jointly by Gariz Design and United SGP Corporation, is beautifully painted with Ott, a special chemical paint that is not only flame retardant and heat resistant but also waterproof, mothproof, antiseptic and antibacterial. The case comes with a leather sleeve and protectors for both the screen and Apple logo. If you want one, though, you’d better hurry—only 50 of these premium, individually numbered cases will be produced.

Featuring Swarovski crystals arranged by hand in a leopard-spot pattern, each of these luxury iPhone cases is completely unique. The easily snapped-on case is supposed to be as protective as it is aesthetically pleasing, but Ultra Case doesn’t list the materials used to create the “crystal hard case.”

There are other iPhone cases out there made of the “finest” Italian leather, but what makes the Strada unique is its patented belt clip/pedestal. Not only is this belt clip removable, it’s also made of palladium metal and it can even be used to prop up your iPhone so you can watch videos at your desk. After all, you probably don’t have any other viewing apparatus there. The Strada also features a screen protector and connector access. Oh, it’s also hand-stitched. That automatically makes it at least twice as good. The Strada starts at $99, but you can pay more to get one made from one of a variety of gentle woodland creatures—from ostriches ($249) to crocodiles ($319).

Whether you’re partial to “Puffy Pink” or “Golden Swirl,” you can get it slathered on your iPhone 3G or 3GS in the form of over 1,000 genuine Swarovski crystals. In case of damage, GlitterRing’s premium cases even include a repair kit with extra crystals.

Miniot’s iWood case has been upgraded at the hands of Ryou Co., Ltd. and Urushi lacquerer Seiichiro Fujino. The artist uses Chinese raw lacquer, clear lacquer, pigment and silver foil to turn one of Miniot’s already posh cherry iWood casts into true works of art.

Softbank BB is bringing the aesthetic appeal of traditional Japanese lacquerware to your iPhone. These five cases commemorate five famous samurai from Japan’s storied history—(from left to right) conquerer Oda Nobunaga; one-eyed warlord Date Masamune; tactician and “Dragon of Echigo,” Uesagi Kenshin; famed lover Naoe Kanetsugu and triumphant underdog Yukimura Sanada. Louis Vuitton is now offering four different flavors of iPhone case: Monogram Canvas, Taiga Leather, Epi Leather and Alligator Skin. Unfortunately, these costly cases commit the cardinal sin of covering the phone’s screen.

What is the most expensive iPhone case in the world? This extravagant case is the culmination of twelve months of development. The case features a 1mm subshell made with 140 grams of 18k gold, a carbon fiber inlay and about 200 diamonds. The outer frame features another 400 diamonds in the logo, which may be customized. As a customizable luxury item, however, prices may vary widely based on the materials needed.

Honorable Mention: exo2 Brass Engraved with Wood Insert – $150

Seen in an episode of Fox’s Fringe, “Brown Betty,” EXOvault’s metal iPhone cases are hand-made in Brooklyn, NY. Their latest and most expensive offering features a rosewood inset that provides better reception—and a more pleasing aesthetic—than the aluminum grills on their previous models. This particular model features a beautiful engraving above the insert’s dovetail joint. EXOvault also offers brass and aluminum cases for as low as $110.

The first Barbie dolls were introduced by Mattel, Inc. in 1959. Produced in Japan, their clothing was hand-stitched by home workers. Creator Ruth Handler based them on a German doll called Bild Lilli, which was itself based on a comic strip character. Since then, of course, the Barbie doll has become a household name. Having been around that long, Barbie’s been through quite a few editions.

For those who prefer the nostalgia factor to the bling factor, this expensive classic Barbie is naturally the very first—Barbie No. 1. Featuring a ponytail and zebra-striped bathing suit, the vintage Barbie doll is truly a historic artifact.

De Beers 40th Anniversary Barbie – $85.000

On her 40th birthday, we were introduced to the most expensive Barbie doll of the time. Created by jeweler De Beers, this unique Barbie’s dress is covered in diamonds—160 of them, to be exact. She also wears 18k white gold jewelry. Perhaps most interestingly, this Barbie is not the iconic blonde but rather a raven-haired beauty.

Barbie and the Diamond Castle promotional Barbie – $95,361

This doll, introduced in Mexico City, was created to promote a new Barbie movie, Barbie and the Diamond Castle. According to Giancarlo Melloni, Barbie’s brand manager in Mexico, the film has themes near and dear to the hearts of young women—“friendship, music and shiny jewels.”

Mr. Melloni is clearly breaking new ground there.

The doll was not created for sale but has been valued at 1 million pesos. It features a total of 318 diamonds weighing in at 20.66 carats. Forty-four of the gems decorate her dress while the rest adorn her white gold accessories.

Canturi Barbie – $540,780

To celebrate the new Barbie Basics Collection–a line of urban socialite dolls, each with a different hairstyle and skintone and wearing her own unique Little Black Dress–Mattel commissioned this stunning doll with accessories by renowned jewelry designer Stefan Canturi.

The necklace features 3 carats of white diamonds arranged in a Cubist style and surrounding a rare pink diamond from Australia’s Argyle mine. The centerpiece is emerald cut and weighs in at 1 carat. A ring adorned with another diamond decorates Barbie’s right hand.

If you think Invisalign braces are expensive, think again. The London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic has developed a process that puts other dental braces to shame—at least in terms of pricing. Their “couture” braces are the most expensive braces in the world.

Unlike other invisible braces, these bespoke braces are very much meant to be seen—once they’re out of your mouth, at least. Until then, they’re bracketed to the backs of the teeth where they remain inconspicuous. Afterwards, however, the gold alloy braces can be used as jewelry.

That’s not the only luxury feature of the braces, though, as they’re custom fit to the teeth using a 3D optical scanner and wax casts. The results are not only comfortable, but also have little effect on the wearer’s speech.

The process costs from £4,000 to £8,500—or approximately US $6,000 to $13,000.

We’ve covered the world’s most expensive bras and panties, but Indian jewelers Orra have another, classier undergarment for you to drool over—the most expensive bustier in the world.

Orra is India’s largest diamond jewelry chain and the most expensive bustier really drives that point home. Valued at €1 million—US $1.35 million—the bustier was modeled by Anjali Lavanya along with a gold lehenga, a type of traditional Indian skirt. The handcrafted Orra Diamond Bustier is studded with a bevy of Belgian diamonds.

The glittering outfit was modeled at a Mumbai event held in honor of a state visit by Belgium’s Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde. The diamond bustier is particularly appropriate as gems and jewelry account for 75% of trade between Belgium and India.
