How much would you pay for a Philly cheesesteak? Stephen Starr, owner of Barclay Prime restaurant, hopes your answer is in the triple digits. The latest draw to this upscale restaurant for serious patrons is the aptly-named $100 Cheesesteak.

While Starr admits that the sandwich is a marketing ploy for the Philly-based restaurant, the most expensive cheesesteak appears to be worth every penny. Of course, it’s a given that the sandwich is made with Kobe beef. The sandwich also includes $17-per-pound Taleggio cheese, sautéed foie gras, caramelized onions, heirloom shaved tomatoes and $900-per-pound shaved truffles. It’s a bit of a step up from your standard roast beef and provolone sandwich.

Strangely enough, Todd Miller, the chef responsible for the haute cheesesteak, had never eaten a cheesesteak prior to being tasked with its creation. However, he gave himself a crash course in the famous local sandwich before beginning his endeavor in earnest.

Luckily for those with only slightly deep pockets, the world’s most expensive cheesesteak is big enough to share. It’s even served with a selection of knives from Japan, France and Australia.
