I have been living in Japan for 3 yrs now I am from Sydney Australia I currently run an english academy in Matsuyama .. Before I came to Japan both my wife and I were working full time in Sydney combined salary 80.000 aud per year.. less tax 30.000 that,s about 50000 a year net... rent 1200 a month food 360 bills 270 then we had a child my wife stopped working it was going to cost 300 a week for day care if my wife went back to work just couldn,t afford it,.. My point is that we have had to leave australia in search of a better life and cheaper and it,s right here in what,s claimed as the worlds most expensive country... here are some facts... cheaper restaurants cheaper tobacco less income tax cheaper cars/electronics cheaper clothes/shoes cash heavy society less declared daycare charged on % on your salary safe little crime cheaper rent if u know where to look. I believe that if you take average salary of an Australian and living expenses Australians are living on credit they have no disposible income always borrowing from one card to another..
