Give them a large enclosure, around at least 600x600 meters and there is a high change that they would be happier than they would be in the wild. This is because lions live in the same place for their whole lives, they live in a territory, they live in a pride that they would not like to move out of. They are not like birds were if you keep them in a cage they wont be happy because they cant migrate or travel long distances. And males would love to stay in the same pride for their whole life, in the wild the average lion only gets to keep its pride for around a year before getting thrown out by another male. The new male kills all the cubs and becomes the new group leader. So what I am trying to say is, if you build a natural enclosure similar to their home land, similar to a Savannah, give them a very large enclosure and have at least 2 females and 1 males and maybe a few other species of small animals that you can keep in an enclosure your lion would be as happy as it is in the wild.
