World’s Most Expensive Rifles

Rifles—firearms with helical grooves carved into the barrel to impart greater range and accuracy—have been in military use since the Seven Years War in Europe. While originally used only by sharpshooters and hunters, today’s rifles are the standard arms of the modern infantryman. Of course, none of them get to carry the most expensive rifle in the world.

The gun is a product of Viggo Olsson, the Swedish gunsmith who founded VO Vapen in 1977. Called the H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque Rifle, it was created as a tribute to its namesake building in Abu Dhabi. The rifle was modeled after the mosque’s impressive chandelier and features gold inlays and thirty-six diamonds of various colors. The exclusive rifle is valued at $825,000. Olssen has also produced 100 Royal Collection United Arab Emirates Edition rifles priced at a somewhat more modest $525,000.

Of course, there are some rifles whose historical importance renders them priceless. One example of such is the Carcano rifle used to assassinate John F. Kennedy, which is currently in the hands of the National Archives and Records Administration in Maryland.

  1. The M-16 rifle is better than an AK-47, AR-15m, or any other rifle in the world. It does not take a long time to take apart, clean and back together it goes. It can be set to automatic, semi-automatic or burst. You can store more ammunition and a cleaning kit in the butt of the riffle and most important of all which has no price, you can defend a good/ethical/democratic nation against a deceiving/tyrannical/manipulative/ evil nation.

    1. there is no point of putting ammo in the buttstock not to mention the piece that opens the buttstock rusts and is hard to open or the fact that the military is going to m4s which dont have any holding capability in the buttstock. Also if the 16s in the military used piston blow back and didnt send the gas straight to the bolt it would be a lot better. You wouldnt have to clean it as often. Not very fun when you 16 shoots a round then jams and Mr. Taliban with the ak is spraying rounds at you in your buddies with no end is sight.

  2. The AK has proved time and time again to be better than the m16

  3. When has it proved that? The AK-47 doesn't shoot as straight when you have it set to full-auto because the barrel bends, it's no more reliable then the M-16 or AR-15 AND it's not American made (lol)

  4. hahahahaha the AK-47 and the M-16 are both great guns you just have to know how to use them the AK has reliability and stopping power the M16 has accuracy and speed but the best i have to say is the Gailil made by Israel and was put to the test between the M16, AK47, stooner63, and the hk23 and it won so what do you have to say about that

    1. I say you play too much black ops

    2. Yeah just make sure you have sleight of hand.

  5. Seriously, your first sentence shows you no nothing as Rifleman pointed out. Rifles all have their own pros and cons and just because the US uses a weapon doesn't make it the best.

  6. As far as reliability, in terms of is the weapon goes to malfunction, the AK47 blows away the M16.

Comparing any Kalashnikov rifle to the M 16/AR 15 is like comparing a Ferrari to a PT cruiser, it's absurd.

INSAS (indian rifle the most reliable and accurate ) having 1.8 km range and fully auomatic rifle.

  9. Woh, MALL NINJAS gettin "nerd rage" all up in here.

I think they prefer "armchair commando" haha

  10. M16 vs AK-47
    says:

You can clean an AK-47 way faster than the M16. Only the M16A3 are fully automatic. Wow, just because AK-47 is Russian doesn't it is evil. U.S. Army even rated the AK-47 as the world best rifle, and M16 as 2nd.

  11. no the berret m468 is better then the m-16 has more stoping power more accuracy and able to outshoot the m-16 even the famas!!

Ak 47 is the best gun . it is most reliable & can preform better than any other assault rifle in any weather or climate.

  13. The Galil is a fine rifle. Mainly because it's largely patterned on the Kalashnikov design. The AR15 IS the M16, minus three round burst capability. They both shoot the 5.56 Nato/.223 rem cartridge. The Galil and the AK47 shoot the most available cartridge in the world, the 7.62×39. Without custom mods, the black rifle is more accurate and has a greater effective range and the AK47 is FAR more tolerant of abuse…while sacrificing effective range for stopping power. Any low quality barrel will warp if heated and then cooled to quickly…this isn't capitalism vs. communism…it's metallurgy.
