World's Most Expensive Sheep
Texel sheep

If you’re like me, you’ve been pondering the most expensive sheep ever since the UK’s highest priced sheep, Tophill Joe, died some months ago. Well, wonder no further—the world’s most expensive sheep has been sold.

Purchased by a British farmer at an agricultural auction, this record-setting bit of livestock is called Deveronvale Perfection. Like Tophill Joe, Deveronvale Perfection is a Texel ram—a breed that, surprisingly, comes from the island of Texel, off Holland. Texel sheep are known for their lean meat. Deveronvale Perfection, in particular, is said to have a strong loin.

Deveronvale Perfection was purchased for £231,000 (US $376,000) which, according to the British Texel Sheep Society, is £26,000 more than the former most expensive sheep in the world.
