Most Expensive Toy Robot

Most Expensive Toy Robot

If you balk at dropping $40 on a Transformers toy for your kid this Christmas, then you’ll be happy to know that the world’s most expensive toy robot wasn’t made for retail. In order to bring more exposure to one of their flagship toy lines, Japanese toymakers Bandai teamed up with well-known jewelers Ginza Tanaka. The result, valued at around $250,000 USD, is Gundam Fix Platinum.

Most expensive toy robot

Representing two years of work on the part of its creators, this expensive toy is, as its name suggests, made almost entirely of platinum. Fourteen hundred grams of pure platinum were used in the 89 parts that make up this figure. Why is it only almost entirely made of platinum? A .15 carat diamond was used in the camera eye on the figure’s head.

The figure was unveiled at Baselworld 2007 in Basel, Switzerland, the world’s largest international watch and jewelry show.
