Decanter, a UK-based company, is marketing the most expensive cookbook in the world which, coincidentally, bears the name of some of the most expensive champagne in the world, Dom Perignon. Jam-packed with recipes by some of the top chefs in the United Kingdom, you’ll probably want to leaf through this expensive cookbook with clean hands as it is bound in green Galuchat leather made from the rare hide of a Japanese ray.
This limited edition cookbook has only 30 volumes in print, which certainly plays a role in making it the most expensive piece of culinary literature in the world.
Tom Aikens, Jean-Christophe Novelli, Marco Pierre White, Michael Caines, and Angela Hartnett all contributed recipes for the cookbook that also contains celebrity portraits commissioned from three major artists. These limited edition cookbooks are also signed by Dom Perignon’s chef de cave Richard Geoffroy and are available exclusively from Decanter.
If you want to taste a recipe from the most expensive cookbook in the world, it will cost you £1000 a copy ($2,000 USD). But don’t get too stewed up over the price, you can get an unbound copy for only £40 ($80 USD).
