Most Expensive Desktop Computer

A desktop computer can be an expensive investment, but most of that expense usually goes to the monitor and the gear inside the case. After all, an extraordinarily expensive case is still only $600 and nobody’s going to put a case like that over hardware that costs less than two or three times as much, right? Well, what if the case was made of platinum and diamonds? Zeus, a Japanese manufacturer, is selling a computer in just such a case. Their PC, called Jupiter, is the most expensive desktop computer in the world.

World’s most expensive desktop computer

Jupiter features a case made of platinum and encrusted with jewels arranged in the shapes of constellations. As for the hardware, Jupiter features Intel’s 3GHz E6850 Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of DDR 2 memory, a 1TB hard drive and a dual Blu-Ray/HD DVD drive. Additionally, it ships with a 24” 1920×1200 native resolution monitor.

The world’s most expensive desktop PC has been released in Japan, where it can be purchased for ¥80,000,000 ($748,720 USD). Of course, if you’re on a tight budget then you could opt for gold instead of platinum, reducing the price to ¥60,000,000 ($561,540).

Stupid. The only thing worth that amount of money is probly the case, the amount of memory is trash, the processor is oldschool trash, and I’m sure the mobo in the case is trash seeing as its being sold with a lower c2d. I’m sure the 1tb hdd is just some 5000-7200 rpm maxtor / samsung. Not to mention the case has absolutely NO air flow. talk about hardware oven? Even if that whole pc was only 1000$, it would still be a waste of money =/.

Subtract approximately 400 maybe 500 dollars, that’s how much the case is worth.

No, it isn’t set up for airflow but if they were smart, the entire case could be a heat sink, platinum doesn’t retain heat.

i think,,, gold/platinum/dimond would always remain at a high price; so the case would always be expensive altho ANY hardwere they put-in would only have a three/six months value before it becomes obsolete again……..

if they are selling a $750,000 case they should put 50,000 worth of hardware in it. it makes no sence to put cheap hardware like that in it.

My 2007 laptop is better then that and cost about 5000$,
My Mac Pro is sooo much better then that and cost 37 000$ and it is almost obsolete even though in begining of 2009 it was the best money could buy
