Most Expensive Pillow
Written by: jeremy Filed Under: Luxury, World on December 10th, 2007How well could you sleep on the most expensive pillow in the world? St. Geneve, a maker of Eiderdown pillows, would like you to think that the answer is “Like a baby.” Reputedly the softest possible material from which to make a pillow, Eiderdown certainly carries a price to match its reputation.
Made from the down that lines the nest of the Common Eider—a large sea-duck native to the northern coasts of Europe, eastern Siberia and North America—St. Geneve assures their customers that the down is collected with as little harm to the fowl as possible. Eider flock to the safe areas provided by the down collectors and their nests aren’t disturbed until the birds have left.
St. Geneve uses 360 thread count, 100% Egyptian Cotton in the making of their pillows in order to perfectly complement the Eiderdown filling. Their pillows are guaranteed to be hypoallergenic—there’s no use in buying such an expensive pillow if you can’t use it.
King-sized Eiderdown pillows like those offered by St. Geneve can cost over $2,800. If you do happen to be in the market for such a pillow, make sure to read the label so that you know the pillow you’re getting is 100% Eiderdown.

The Ophelia is a wonderful pillow, but not the most expensive by any means. Eiderdown pillows are significantly more expensive-depending on size and fill level they go up to $7000 or more. Both Ophelia and Eiderdown can be found at J Renee Fine Linens.
