To celebrate the four million dollar sales mark of its HP1160 Laser Printer in Middle Eastern markets, Hewlett Packard gave one model the golden treatment. Covered in 24-karat gold, this luxurious version of the top-selling office printer was displayed at the Gitex IT exhibition in 2006. The most expensive printer does not feature any special bells or whistles; it’s simply covered in gold… and some silver.

The Gitex 2006 IT convention, considered to be one of the top three Information Technology conventions in the world, is an important gateway to the technology markets of the Middle East with over 1,200 exhibitors representing 2,274 Companies from 61 Countries. The convention was the perfect place for HP to display their expensive laser printer.

This particularly expensive computer accessory is said to be fully functional. One would hope so, since the world’s most expensive printer carries an estimated value of around $20,000. HP plans to auction the golden computer printer off for charity. If you are in the market for a printer worth 20 grand, you might be interested in the most expensive mouse, mouse-pad or keyboard so you can assemble the most expensive PC rig.
